With•in Series - Mary was the first person to see Jesus be brought into this world and she was present when he gave up his spirit and died. On the final day of Jesus' earthly life, Mary stood "near the cross of Jesus." Violent opposition and pain had been foreshadowed earlier when Jesus was dedicated at the temple at eight years old. The prophets had also spoken hundreds of years earlier about the Messiah being the suffering servant (Isaiah 53). The harsh reality was that Jesus was born to die. In that moment, while Jesus is providing the cosmic sacrifice for humanity, Jesus also personally provides a caretaker for his mother.
