"Good initiative, bad judgment" is an admonishment commonly heard by Marines who have decided to do something without being ordered, resulting in unfavorable outcomes. These events in our life can also be described as learning good judgment through experience. As adults, we're typically aware of this process, but how do we learn it? More important is how we teach it to children. In this episode, we'll talk about how to communicate rules and guidance to children in a supportive manner which encourages awareness rather than shame, and helps children learn to develop good judgment.
