Hello and welcome! In today’s episode, I am excited to introduce you to two members of Sonus de Gaia, King Sing and Falk. We'll discuss the band's inception, how the two members came together and their musical backgrounds. We’ll also briefly touch on the types of music and languages that influence Sonus de Gaia, as well as how rehearsing and producing new music works among the international members.
The band 大地之歌 (Sonus de Gaia) was founded in 2016 by Taiwanese guitarist King Sing, who invited José to Taiwan to continue promoting intercultural music. Through their collaborative research on Spanish and Taiwanese traditional music, they shared insights and poured their energy into composition. In their first album, the band collaborated with excellent contemporary musicians and indigenous musicians from various countries, using music as a medium for dialogue. The album integrates multiple languages, such as Holo, Spanish, Celtic, Amis, Kavalan, Paiwan, Seediq, Sanskrit, English, and more. Through ensemble performance, observation, and exchange, the band brings the spirit of "intercultural music" to its fullest expression. In 2024, they released their second album - Luminous Echoes.
Sonus de Gaia presents Gaia Formosa: Where intercultural fusion and ancestral traditions come together in harmony with nature. Embarking upon an unprecedented musical journey, beyond borders, to send a message of consciousness and connection with the cosmos, with mother earth Gaia and with our inner self.
