Good Question – Five C's for Discovering God's Will in Decision Making

Listen Later

In this sermon, the pastor addresses a common question among Christians: how can we be led by God in our decision making? Recognizing that our decisions shape our lives, the pastor offers five "C's" to help believers discern God's will, focusing primarily on the first "C" in this message.

Key Points:

  1. The first "C" in understanding how to know God's will is the Commands of Scripture. The Bible, as the Word of God, provides clear guidance and answers for many aspects of our lives.
  2. While the Bible may not directly address every specific decision we face (e.g., which job to take, which major to choose), it is still vital to continually engage with Scripture. As a living and active book, the Bible can offer wisdom and direction when read in context.
  3. Although there is a "non-moral" category of decisions where we have freedom to choose, we should still seek to make choices that align with biblical principles and the wisdom found in Scripture.
  4. The remaining four "C's" for discerning God's will are not discussed in detail but will likely be addressed in future sermons.

Key Scripture:

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (NIV)

The pastor emphasizes the importance of relying on God's Word as the primary source of guidance in decision making, encouraging believers to consistently engage with the Bible and apply its timeless wisdom to their lives.
