As a Google Engineer have seen the Google play Console evolve from reviewing apps in days to just few hours

have 8 plus years in Google Engineering using Android SDKs IDEs

I uploaded my first app on the playstore in 2017 back then ,No many rules just provide the privacy url , say if you collect data and then upload 😄 , Developers uploaded many harmful apps to the store ,apps that read sms,open camera's, view your media ,see chats ,loans apps,gambling apps ,it was a mess 😳

But its 2023 Google have more restrictions, including licenses to any app even government apps must be accounted for before they are released,

provide documentation on why you need such permission ,its so hard to defend apps that collect money , ask permissions, listeners thats trigger screen recording, location access all those were dropped on Android 12

That being said playstore will soon become a safer place for Apps
