Snails & Oysters

Gosford Park

Listen Later

Snails & Oysters celebrates Nat's birthday by discussing one of his favorite movies: Robert Altman's 2001 "whodunnit where you don't care who did it," Gosford Park. From the beginning, Altman and producer Bob Balaban intended to use the conventions of the Christie-esque "parlor mystery" to examine class dynamics between the World Wars – and the roots of class conflict today. With a cast the size of a small nation and a script penned by future Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, Gosford Park turns the genre on its head the way only Robert Altman could.
