In this section of the gosho, Nichiren identifies the misguided and egotistical practice of some to deny the actual order of the original sermons and teachings of Shakyamuni to instead re-interpret earlier teachings as complete and relegating the later teachings and culminating teachings of the Lotus as inferior. This is often done by misquoting texts out of context to bolster a personal agenda or school of thought for political purposes like nationalism, or favoritism with cultural histories and identities.
