Very often we try to prove our value and earn our acceptance through our achievements. Our longing for acceptance drives us on an endless desire to succeed, all in the hope that somehow others will appreciate us. This striving for acceptance can also happen in our relationship with God. Our natural tendency is to think that earn God’s acceptance by impressing him with our moral and religious achievements. But Christianity is very different. At the heart of Christianity is not an attempt to impress God with our good works, but a relationship with Jesus based on grace.
