The 3rd Sunday of Advent always calls the Church to REJOICE--indeed, always.  And yet how do we rejoice when we are living in a world full of forces hell-bent on making us more like Scrooge before his conversion. Surrender your past and let go. Surrender your future because ours is a happy ending. Surrender your present to actions of love.  (Preached on December 16, 2018 at St. Augustine's 12:30 pm mass)
