Lim Hwee Hua in conversation with Simon Jacot de Boinod. Lim Hwee Hua is Singapore's first-ever female cabinet minister. She was first elected to Parliament in December 1996 and served till May 2011, last as Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and concurrently as Second Minister for Finance and for Transport. Prior to joining the Singapore Cabinet, Hwee Hua enjoyed a varied career in financial services.
At Temasek Holdings (2000 — 2004), a Singapore Sovereign Wealth Fund, she served as Managing Director where she oversaw divestments, restructured companies and boards, established strategic relations with key foreign counterparts and sat on boards including PSA, Keppel and Mapletree. Hwee Hua is currently engaged in private equity (Tembusu Partners, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts), financial services (United Overseas Bank, AsiaPacific Exchange) and maritime services (Bergesen Worldwide Group).
She is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow of National University of Singapore at both the Business School and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Between 2011 and 2014, she served on the Ernst & Young Global Advisory Council. Hwee Hua is the author of "Government in Business — Friend or Foe", published in 2014. Her new book, "Government in Business - Leading or Lagging?" is to be published in February 2021.
Simon Jacot de Boinod is the founder of Forum, a network of privately invited principals and experts.
