The state of Georgia almost certainly executed an innocent man last week, and it really has my jimmies rustled, and my heart broken. I'll break down the full story for you. What's in the News with stories on cop suing mother after he killed her kid, DOJ banning bump stocks, right to try, fining beggars, and lies on Syria. And, a new Herding Cats update on lots of news, and a discount code, for PorcFest XV! This episode is brought to you by ZenCash, a cryptocurrency that infuses privacy, anonymity, and security done right. Also brought to you by NordVPN, the fastest, easiest to use service to protect your online presence that I've ever seen.   WHAT’S RUSTLING MY JIMMIES The state of Georgia almost certainly executed an innocent man last week, and it really has my jimmies rustled, and my heart broken. Carlton Michael Gary was executed on March 15th for the supposed rape and murder of seven elderly, white women in Columbus over eight terrifying months from September 1977 to April 1978. This is one of the worst miscarriages of justice I've ever seen, and I follow this sort of stuff regularly. Gary was murdered by the state of Georgia after not accepting a final prayer and making no statement, keeping his eyes closed through the entire process while a lethal dose of pentobarbital was shot into his veins by the government.   That's why I give money every month to the Innocence Project, an organization that works to exonerate the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reform the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. The Innocence Project's mission is to free the staggering number of innocent people who remain incarcerated and to bring reform to the system responsible for their unjust imprisonment. As of today, the Innocence Project has helped to exonerate 354 people in the United States, including 38 who pleaded guilty to crimes they did not commit and 20 who served time on death row. These people served an average of 14 years in prison before exoneration and release. I encourage you to help this organization out by going to https://www.innocenceproject.org/ today. Interestingly, my good friend and supporter of this show, Darryl W. Perry, has signed up to run the 2018 New York City Marathon under the banner of the Innocence Project. To do so, he needs to raise $3,500 for the Innocence Project. He's already raised over $500 of this total, and has just been given a pledge for matching donations of the next $1,500 he raises, which will put him over the top! So please, I beg you, go to http://run.freetalklive.com to donate to this today and double every dollar that you give to this super important cause. All of the money raised will go directly to the Innocence Project.  I would consider it a personal favor if you helped with this cause. Thank you.   WHAT'S IN THE NEWS In I can't make this shit up news, an Albuquerque, New Mexico police officer has decided to sue the mother of a child he killed as he collided with her vehicle while speeding through an intersection at twice the legal speed limit. In shall not be infringed news, the U.S. Department of Justice formally submitted a regulation to ban "bump stocks," a modification to high-capacity rifles that lets them fire like an automatic weapon. In shall not be infringed news, the U.S. Department of Justice formally submitted a regulation to ban "bump stocks," a modification to high-capacity rifles that lets them fire like an automatic weapon. In beggars can't be choosers news, the council of the town of Poole, England has confirmed plans to issue 100 pound fines to beggars. The fines will begin on April 16th.  In unusual admission news, Secretary of Defense James Mattis made the statement that the US has no evidence that the Syrian government used the banned nerve agent Sarin against its own people, even though that claim was held up as fact by interventionists who wanted an excuse to get involved in the Syrian quagmire and to justify an American Tomahawk missile strike  in which several dozen of the cruise missiles were used against the Shayrat airbase in Syria. In some personal news, the town I live in, Milton, New Hampshire, held their town election last week. Thanks to a friend of mine and fellow Free Stater, Glen Bailey, there was a motion on the ballot to disincorporate the town completely.   HERDING CATS So, my wife and I have been busting our asses trying to work on PorcFest for this coming summer, and I have some huge announcements to make regarding the 15 annual festival. This festival is coming together and it is going to kick ass, guys! You don't want to miss this one. And, if you've never been, what's wrong with you? It is the largest gathering of libertarians in the country every year and it is truly anarchy in action. We have announced two very cool speakers so far. First, Eric July of Being Libertarian and the anarchist band Backwordz will be giving a speech. Also, since Eric will be there, his band Backwordz will be doing a full concert one night at PorcFest! It is going to fucking rock, so don't miss it! Also, we've announced that journalist and star of Reality Check, Ben Swann, will be one of our keynote speakers. So, what does all this mean? It means you need to get your tickets now! You missed the huge early bird sale, sadly, but I can still give you a discount off of your General Admission or VIP ticket just for being a listener of this show, a full 10% off! Just go to http://thelavaflow.com/fest and put in the coupon code that you'll get when you listen to the show for a full 10% off of your General Admission or VIP (Very Important Porcupine) tickets today!
