Tom, welcome again to this month’s GPS Training podcast

First of all Tom, lets start with the real basics –

A – They are smart watches, fitness trackers and GPS navigational aid.

The last Fenix watch to be released was the Garmin Fenix 5 plus, when was that launched?

A – June 2018

One question I have been asked this week Tom (by Andrew Kennard) is – some of the earlier Fenix GPS watches supported OS maps, why was this stopped and is there any thoughts about this being re-introduced?

Use ClimbPro ascent planner to see real-time information on your current and upcoming climbs, including gradient, distance and elevation gain.

Access full-colour CourseView maps for more than 41,000 golf courses around the world, and get button targeting and the PlaysLike Distance feature.

Gent very happy with the response explaining how to change the route/track lines in Basecamp. A little hidden in both Basecamp programmes – Did we not discuss this on last months Podcast?

Discussion with a customer on what mapping options are available and how Memory maps won’t work. Subsequently bought an Oregon 700 with 1:25 mapping

4 – Ian’s FAQ’s

Welcome Ian back to the Podcast to talk over some of his FAQ’s, the frequently asked questions he has been asked on his courses over the past month.

This month we are going to look in depth into a question we get asked lots on our GPS Training courses around the country –

b) Two stage process to start navigating and recording the route/track

Oregon 700 pop up window reminds you to start the track recording, Map66 doesn’t. Press ‘Enter’ on the 66 to start the recording. Enter again to stop it.

c) Check after a few minute’s activity that there is the colour breadcrumb trail behind you and have a look at the Trip Computer screen

d) At the end of the activity ‘Stop’ on Oregon, ‘Enter’ on 66 and units go straight to the Info screen in the Track Manager. Floppy disc bottom right or bin bottom left and then ‘reset’ the data. There is also the option of ‘Resuming’ as well

You can change the layout and data fields in the Trip Log Screen on the Active 20

To change grid layout

To change data field cell information, Press and hold the cell. You have the choice of 78 different pieces of information to use in the cell
