Grace as God's But: Divine Conjunction Changes

Listen Later

Christ is the conjunction in the sentence of human destiny, the linking word that transforms a verdict of condemnation into a declaration of sonship.

This teaching introduces the "But of God" as a grammatical and theological reality. Just as a conjunction changes the conclusion of a sentence, Christ entered the construction of our eternal sentence and redirected its meaning, its definition, and its verdict. The teaching then moves into a four-part framework for understanding Grace not as a response to sin but as a premeditated person. Grace is a being. Grace is a forethought. Embracing Grace produces the nature of God. Embracing both the being and the forethought produces the zeal and will of God. From Ephesians 2:8-9, the distinction between "a gift of God" and "the gift of God" is handled precisely. Grace is not a portion God distributes. Grace is God himself, given. The Holy Spirit is identified as the Spirit of Grace, and Grace is defined as the consciousness of God at work in the believer.
