Sometimes, we mistakenly believe that a strong faith means being rigidly certain of God's ways and our own path. We build mental structures and expectations, believing God will move within them. Yet, the Easter story reveals a God whose grace often arrives in utterly unexpected ways, challenging our preconceived notions. The Roman guards, rigid in their duty and beliefs, became 'like dead men,' unable to comprehend the miracle unfolding before them because their framework left no room for it. Our own rigidity, the 'walls we build around our hearts,' can similarly prevent us from recognizing God's ongoing work. It's not that grace isn't there, but that we've inadvertently blocked our view. Let us pray for open minds and hearts, willing to see God's grace even if His methods are different from what we anticipated. May we release our need for control and embrace the surprising, expansive grace that God offers in every moment. Amen.
