Dr. M.R. DeHaan reportedly said grace was "getting something that we don't deserve" as contrasted to God's mercy which is "not getting something that we do deserve." God so loved the world yet the world is not saved by his love. If anyone is saved it is by God's grace. Paul told the Romans that salvation is free: "being justified freely by his grace."
