Grace, Grit & Grounds: When Resistance Becomes Rhythm: Lessons from Red Oak

Listen Later

There are some projects we look forward to.

And then there are the ones we dread before we ever begin.

In this episode of Grace, Grit, and Grounds, I'm back at the lathe working a simple piece of red oak into a low-profile platter. Red oak and I have a history. It's hard, stubborn, and never gives up its beauty easily. As I worked through the turn, I was reminded of a lesson that reaches far beyond the shop:

Sometimes the thing we dread isn't actually the task. It's the story we've already written about the task.

What began as another battle with an old rival became a reminder that God often hides delight on the far side of obedience. Join me as we talk about resistance, rhythm, faithfulness, recovery, and discovering joy in places we least expect it.

So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a shop stool, and let's spend some time together in the shop.

If you enjoy conversations about faith, craftsmanship, purpose, and finding God in ordinary moments, be sure to like, subscribe, and join the community.

Grace builds what grit sustains.
