Gender bias remains a pervasive issue in many American workplaces, creating significant barriers for women in leadership. Despite qualifications, high skill, and achievements, women often face unfair scrutiny and stereotypes that undermine their authority and effectiveness. One of the most challenging biases is the tendency to label assertive women as "aggressive," a term recently found to be used three times more often to describe women than men in performance reviews. This double standard not only discredits women's leadership abilities, but also discourages them from acting with the confidence and decisiveness necessary to be an effective leader.
In this week's episode, Andrea shares a recent story about her own experience with gender bias, and reminds women everywhere that responding to uncomfortable situations with authority and grace is key to maintaining your self-respect and professionalism.
