What once appeared to be spiritual assets were revealed to be unable to save. In their place, Paul found something of infinitely greater value: the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus as Lord.

This message explores the futility of self-righteousness, the danger of trusting in religious performance, and the righteousness that comes through faith in Christ alone. It reminds believers that salvation is not earned by human effort but received as a gift of grace.

In 1 Peter 3:9, Christians are commanded not to repay evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead to bless those who wrong them. We are reminded that our poverty is deeper than we often realise: we do not merely suffer, but frequently do not know how to pray as we ought. Yet God has not left His people to bear these burdens alone. The Spirit comes alongside believers, helps them in their weakness, and intercedes perfectly on their behalf according to the will of God.

This message offers comfort for weary saints, assurance for those perplexed by suffering, and confidence that God is actively at work bringing His people safely to glory. 

Matthew 26:57–75 sets the trial of Jesus alongside Peter’s denial, showing the sharp contrast between Christ’s faithful obedience and the weakness of even a sincere disciple.

Jesus stands silent before false accusations, speaks truthfully about His identity as the Christ and Son of God, and submits to the Father’s will even as He is condemned, mocked, and abused. Peter, by contrast, follows at a distance, avoids association with Jesus, and gradually descends from evasion to denial, oath-taking, and cursing.

The sermon explores how denial rarely begins in a single moment. It is often preceded by overconfidence, prayerlessness, unwillingness to submit to God, and distance from Christ. Peter’s bitter grief reminds believers of both the seriousness of sin and the need for grace.
