I think we have to address the elephant in the room. Legit shit, whether shoes, bags or clothes, are obviously prohibitively priced such that only those with the money to spend can enjoy that premium drip in life. This major framework in the capitalist world presents a conundrum to the common child and teenager: "how do I acquire such premium?", especially since only adults are able to acquire AND provide such a premium. The answer? Fake shit, otherwise known as "japeyks," stands as a very important symbol in modern society, particularly in this exact realm of parenting. because duh.
