On February 26, 1919, Congress established Grand Canyon National Park, protecting more than one million acres of breathtaking landscape carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. After earlier efforts by leaders such as Theodore Roosevelt—who first designated it a national monument—the park was officially signed into law by Woodrow Wilson. Stretching 277 miles long and a mile deep, the Grand Canyon remains one of America’s most visited natural wonders, inspiring awe, stewardship, and respect for God’s creations.
