Is It Safe?

Grand Papa Nick Is Closed-Minded And Bigoted | June 8th, 2022

Listen Later

Luke and Scott are back on the softball train and they break down their first foray for the 2022 season. Terry Cashman wrote a dumb song about baseball and then created one for the Tigers too. It's pretty dumb. Luke explains why he love MLB pitcher Zack Greinke which leads into the hoopla with the Tampa Rays players who refused to wear pride patches the team had made. The absurd angle is confirmed by Nick Anderson on Twitter as friend of the show Yancy revealed Anderson's hypocrisy. Kudos to you Yancy! How pathetic is it that corporations exploit Pride Month for promotion and advertising? This bleeds into the NFL and its love for the military. Mike wonders allowed how the NFL would celebrate Pride Month if it was in the fall instead of June. This reminds Mike of Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk by Ang Lee, which totally bombed a few years back. Luke shared an article in the Jacobin recently explaining that Bernie Sanders should run for president again. What do you think? In that article, there's a taxi driver in New York who says she missed Trump even though he was loud and brash. John Scott thinks that deep down we all want to be politicians in the worst way. Remember the band Belly? Gepetto inspires a recall. Luke says we wall want to be with a female lead singer of a band. His crush on Dolores O'Riordan remains to this day. Gwen Stefani was overhyped back int the day, but the gang wonders whether or not we'll see a Toby Keith duet with Gwen. We get to your emails as always. Brian love Bruce Dern. Brian also wants to know what our favorite sports movies are. Mr. Pink wants to know if the gang refers to themselves as men. We close the show with I'm The Man by Buck O'Nine. If any of this nonsense inspires you for better or for worse, email the show at [email protected]
