Daily Gratitude Call

Gratitude for Private Time

Listen Later

Private time to me is quiet time. I give myself quiet time every morning in my Daily GPS (Gratitude, Prayer and Scripture). This is the time when my heart is most open. There is no noise or demands on my time. I give myself to divine tutoring.

I realized that because I am open to inspiration during this time, that I am really not alone. I am inviting God to be with me.

If we don’t proactively choose to give ourselves private time, sometimes God has to resort to waking us up in the middle of the night when our minds are at rest. I always keep a pen and paper by my bed in case this happens. I am super grateful anytime God chooses to share some insights with me.
I mentioned this song on our call today. This video and interpretation by the band Disturbed, gives such meaning to the words of the song “Silence”. I visit my old friend Darkness when I close my eyes every morning in my Daily GPS and listen to the inspired messages it has for me. As you watch to the end of the video, consider that many received inspiration in the form of music or a message and even write down what they receive but never share it. The power of going to silence is receiving an inspired message and acting on it! If not acted on, the silence becomes a form of separation that takes us away from our source of truth and toward regret and resentment of the success of others. The beauty of this interpretation of the classic song is that those who are not afraid to follow through with inspired creation, can empower those who fear the judgement of man.

With regard to the judgement of man, I loved what one of our live call participants shared about Elisha the Prophet who asked that his servant (who feared man) have his eyes opened to see what Elisha saw.

16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. -2 Kings 6:16

I submit that this is still true today. There are angels and past generations and possibly even future generations who are supporting us in our righteous endeavors. There is no need to fear taking bold action on those inspired messages while we are in our private time with God.

Private time can be carved out anywhere that is away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Even putting our phone in another room can be conducive to private time.

Choosing private time is not really even about filling our cup. It is about being in alignment with what feels right to us. Most of us believe that sitting quietly is not productive and that we should always be busy. I invite you to consider that these may be beliefs that simply are not true.

Choosing based on what feels right in the moment leads to integrity and self-love. And private time is the perfect quiet moment where we can hear what our hearts are telling us is right.
