Daily Gratitude Call

Gratitude for Quick Action

Listen Later

Obedience, immediate obedience, communicates to God that we can be trusted with His Inspired Shortcuts. The faster we move, the faster we can receive the next step.

I have a friend who is super good at taking action immediately. She is like Mary Poppins in the new movie that came out recently who said: “Today or never, that’s my motto!”

I have a list that I call my Empty Vessel list. A full vessel (bowl, bucket, vase, etc) is not useful for anything but what it is already containing. So I regularly empty my vessel so that I am able to be useful for something else.

Emptying my vessel could mean that I am just taking quick action and finishing a task. Or it could mean that I am not going to get to that task for a while (or ever), so I just write it on my Empty Vessel list so I can come back to it later. I don’t have to keep it in my brain because it is on the Empty Vessel list.

The funny thing is that many times when I go back to my list, that task is no longer relevant. I have taken action on a new Inspired Shortcut and I have moved past it.

So taking quick Action keeps us relevant.

Phil, on our Gratitude Call this morning has learned that he can usually only remember an inspired thought for about 5 minutes. So he knows to take quick action to jot down the thought immediately so it doesn’t slip away.

Another live caller, Felecia had a fall yesterday and thankfully didn’t break anything. Her AHA this morning was that she has resources available immediately and she didn’t have to try to do it herself, or wait and see if she was still in pain the next day. She chose instead to go to the ER immediately and ask for help!

I know we all have times when we have that wait and see attitude or just keep struggling when assistance is easily available!

Because of the thoughts that Michael on our call shared, I have come to the conclusion that quick action saves time, energy, money, struggle and even lives!

Seconds matter!

The other thought I had was that when an ambulance or other emergency vehicle is speeding past, we get out of the way! We want to help them in whatever way we can, and that is usually the best way we can help…to just get out of the way.

It’s possible that when we are taking quick action, we may not have the outside distractions or negative feedback that sometimes stop us in our tracks. Most people will get out of the way if you are taking quick action, because they don’t want to get run over, and they may even want to help!

And finally, quick action is an antidote to fear. Acting quickly reduces the amount of time we can develop false, but seemingly true, beliefs and horror stories of what the outcome will be if we act.

Today, I Give Myself Permission to Act NOW!

  • I am certain that this is my #1 priority
  • This one thing is important according to God
  • I trust the importance of this one task
  • I lead with my heart
  • I ac
