Gratitude for Standing in the Spotlight

Listen Later

I have the opportunity to submit an idea to TEDX. A few weeks ago, I had the inspired thought to prepare a Ted Talk. I did not prepare it, so today, I am not ready to submit it.

Lessons learned:

  • Act immediately when inspired shortcut presents itself
  • The universe does provide the perfect opportunities for us

I am definitely going to ask for guidance on what I get to submit. I am not passing up this opportunity. However, if I had not been fearful of standing in the spotlight several weeks ago, I would be able to easily and confidently send something in TODAY!

The Permission Process is so powerful to help us give ourselves permission to do the things we fear. Anytime we step outside of our comfort zone, it is like stepping into the spotlight. We feel naked and exposed when we don’t have it all figured out.

For me, stepping onto a stage that has a larger reach than I have ever experienced before, feels like that kind of spotlight. My book The Seven Gateways, is launching and even that is stepping into the spotlight because I am in essence proclaiming that Christ is the Savior of all and that it is necessary to have a partnership with Him if we ever hope to become the highest and best version of ourselves in life and business. That is a pretty bold statement!

But what I realized on the call today is that TEDX is no different than having a conversation with one individual, when I am sharing my message. The messsage doesn’t change and my hope is that each individual within the vast audience of TEDX will feel that I am speaking to them heart to heart as if I created my talk for them personally.

Christ spoke the truth regardless of who He was taking to. He didn’t back down when he was bullied and falsely accused.

The more we align with Him and our own Purpose, the less we care about the naysayers. The more we focus on our own Calling in life, the less we notice the fear of stepping into the spotlight.

This spotlight doesn’t necessarily mean you will have fame and fortune. This spotlight means being authentic and pure before God, and letting everyone else look on in awe as they witness someone in full integrity – body and spirit. The spotlight I am talking about washes away the mask and exposes the person we truly are.

I Give Myself Permission to Be Authentic

  • I forget myself and just be the message
  • I speak the truth
  • I live true to what I know
  • I seek to be in alignment with God
  • I am confident in God’s presence
  • I regularly seek feedback from God and those whose opinion I value to see where I can improve
