Today’s call is a little unique because I wasn’t on it. Our stalwart live callers did the call without me and I got a flood of texts about the experience each of them had on the call. So for today, I am sharing my experience of the call vicariously as I had my own experience from their shares.
I am so grateful for the dedication and commitment of those who choose daily gratitude as a way of life. I learned today that they have learned correct principles and they are governing themselves. They are committed to their own daily practice. That gives me the freedom to do what is important to me and release any thought that I am responsible for anyone’s experience.
Compassion helps us rise above the negative and connect with others ina way that lifts them with us. Compassion and healing for ourselves gives us the power to see the world through the eyes of compassion.
I have felt the love and compassion of my Savior in times of despair and the result is support, strength and guidance. That is the power of love, to transform despair into support, strength and guidance.
Christ had compassion for Peter when Peter looked to him for his literal physical salvation when he began to sink while walking on the water. Jesus asked a key question: Why did you doubt? The question was an opportunity for Peter to look inside and make a different choice, which he did. It was not a reprimand, it was a direct and honest invitation given in compassion and love.
Throughout the Bible prophets made mistakes and were corrected. We are all imperfect and all have access to God’s love and correction. We too can teach with compassion and pray that our students feel our love and compassion.
I have noticed that every client I work with, when they feel love and compassion (whether from me, or from God) are immediately receptive to the truth that they have worth and that they are loved. Our words of compassion and love can heal decades of pain.
When we interact with strangers (the customer service person at the store where we are making a return, on social media, anytime we think we might never see that person again), it seems that it is even more important to speak with love and compassion when we consider the ripple effect that our words have.
