The Great Pyramid of Cholula or Tlachihualtépetl (from the Nahuatl "handmade hill") is the largest pyramidal base in the world with 450 meters per side. It is the largest archaeological site of a pyramid (temple) in the New World, as well as the largest pyramid in existence in the world today. The pyramid stands 55 meters (180 feet) above the surrounding plain, and in its final form measured 450 by 450 meters (1,480 by 1,480 feet). The pyramid is a temple traditionally considered dedicated to the god Quetzalcoatl. The architectural style of the building was closely related to that of Teotihuacán in the Valley of Mexico, although Gulf Coast influence is also evident, especially from The Tajin.
The construction is part of the archaeological zone of Cholula, in the municipalities of San Pedro Cholula and San Andrés Cholula, Puebla.
