A section of the Great Western Highway in the Blue Mountains has been closed for at least three months after engineers discovered cracks in the road surface and significant movements in the nearly 200-year-old bridge structure beneath it. The closure affects 12,000 daily users, with vehicles being redirected through Lithgow and along the Bells Line of Road. NSW Roads Minister Jenny Aitchison announced the difficult decision to close this crucial route linking Sydney to western New South Wales.
