Our conversation reflects the progress for diverse interns across the different facets of federal land management including the National Park Service and USDA Forest Service. During this time of outbreak and crisis we discuss how to diffuse legitimate frustrations and best practices to be successful on the job.

As part of a collaborative effort between students at Brigham Young University and the Greening Youth Foundation, a survey was designed to study the trend of why diverse students do not stay in the environmental field after completing internship programs. In understanding why this happens, GYF would be able to reshape and improve our internship programs to reverse this trend, as well as present solutions for change to our partners as well. Through a diverse lens we’ll navigate multiple levels of then National Park Service and find out what it takes to successfully traverse federal and private sector careers.

A deep dive into the developing career of Pablo Juarbe-Martinez, a former Greening Youth Foundation intern who is now an active Land Surveyor for the USDA Forest Service. From forestry to photography, Pablo incorporates a unique attention to detail in his work that has gained notoriety across the forests of Northern Florida. After participating in the production of land acquisition maps for the forest, Pablo wants to continue his journey and expand his repertoire.
