In this podcast, Beyond Zero's Anthony Daniele and Matt Grantham talk to Greensmith Energy Management Systems' John Jung and David Miller, on their recent visit to Australia.
They are partnering with local South Australian renewable energy and battery company ZEN Energy to offer utility-scale battery solutions. Greensmith's software offers multiple value streams to control battery energy including frequency response, peak shifting and arbitrage.
The advantage of battery energy storage, over other forms of dispatchable energy such as hydro or gas peaking plants, is that a battery bank has the power capacity which can respond in under 40 milli-seconds (ms) to enhance grid reliability.
"Energy storage is economically viable today... rule changes (will) enhance and incentivise asset investment into energy storage" says John Jung, Greensmith's Founder and CEO. [Photo supplied by ZEN Energy]
