Hi. I’m Nova, a non-binary urban naturalist in New York City. I’m wandering the rolling hills of the highest point in Brooklyn, Green-Wood Cemetery. Not just a burying ground, Green-Wood is a vast arboretum of diverse trees mixed with historic gravestones, obelisks, mausolea and sarcophagi, collectively making for an idyllic environment to observe lichens - my favourite pastime! - and provide a temporary escape from urban lockdown in the era of COVID-19, remaining socially distant - well, from the living, at least!
