Gregory Isaacs (July 15, 1951 – October 25, 2010), nicknamed the "Cool Ruler," was one of Jamaica's most beloved and influential reggae singers. He was a master of the Lovers Rock genre, known for his incredibly smooth, soulful voice and laid-back stage presence. Isaacs was very prolific, reportedly releasing over 500 albums throughout his career and his 1982 track "Night Nurse" remains one of the most iconic songs in reggae history. He also was famous for his sharp fashion sense, often appearing in fedoras and silk suits, which earned him his "Cool Ruler" moniker.
