In 2020-2021, Small made a successful return from injury to major competition, with the highlight being a personal best performance at the 2021 World Championships, finishing in 15th place in the alpine combined event. Her 20th place finish at PyeongChang in the Downhill was Australia's best ever result by a woman in the discipline at an Olympic Winter Games. Small will be competing in her third Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China, competing in the Downhill, Super-G and Alpine Combined events.
