Today’s episode is a little different than some of my others. Two years ago yesterday, my dad died, and I have a very clear moment of sitting in the car, crying hysterically thinking to myself, “if I make it through this, I’m going to make my dad so proud every single day.”
IF was really the name of the game. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through back then. The last two years have been a collection of some of the highest highs, and the lowest lows. I have learned some of the most deeply profound, beautiful, and heartbreaking lessons in these last two years.
So many limiting beliefs have come to the surface, and so many huge shifts have happened. I think it’s important to talk about grief in entrepreneurship… Because there seems to be a silent expectation, that we continue to move, no matter what we go through. I really believe that we are here , having this human experience, to feel everything. We don’t just come here to experience the joy, the success, and the good. We also come here to experience, deep grief, anger, sadness. Every single one of the human emotions we feel are the reason we are who we are. And everyone is grieving something. I’m ready to change the conversation, and make these lessons that we learn in grief, part of our beautiful existence. I hope you enjoy this episode. And if you are grieving, someone, or something, know this: as hard as it is to experience such grief, how incredible is it to have the gift of love. Transformational love is the greatest gift. Losing my dad is without the hardest thing I’ve ever had to navigate. And perhaps the greatest gift I’ve ever received. Besides, my son is the realization that I have the capacity to love so deeply.
