Ligia M. Houben MA, FT, FAAGC, CPC, CHT, is the founder of My Meaningful Life, LLC and The Center for Transforming Lives in Miami, Fl where she consults with individuals and families; by offering coaching/support, groups and workshops. Ligia is the author of four books on grief: The self-help book Transform Your Loss. Your Guide to Strength and Hope, Counseling Hispanics Through Loss, Grief, and Bereavement. In this episode I engage in a heartfelt conversation with Ligia M. Houben, a grief expert from Nicaragua. Ligia shares her personal journey of loss, beginning with the death of her father when she was just 12 years old. This profound experience shaped her life and led her to study psychology and grief, ultimately discovering her purpose in helping others navigate their own grief. Ligia emphasizes that grief is not just sadness; it can manifest in various ways, including physical symptoms and emotional turmoil. She highlights the importance of acknowledging and expressing these emotions to facilitate healing.

As the conversation unfolds, Ligia introduces her 11 Principles of Transformation, which serve as a guide for those dealing with loss. These principles encourage individuals to accept their loss, live their grief, and develop their spiritual dimension, among other steps. Ligia's insights are rooted in her own experiences, including the recent loss of her mother, which she navigated with both professional knowledge and personal vulnerability.
