Welcome back to The smashes system podcast. I’m Nino Prodan. This week, I’ll be talking a little bit about what to do now that the world has been flipped upside down yesterday I talked about how to kind of sort everything out Now that everything’s being thrown at you coming at you like 100 miles an hour and what to do to get all those thoughts out of your brain? No, I hope you really follow through and you’ve gotten things out of your brain so you can kind of focus on what you need to do and start getting yourself prepared. Start taking care of yourself, start taking care of your family. Give yourself the ability to distance yourself so you can take care of yourself. And today, I want to talk about what to do to start having a little bit of normalcy in your life. How do you get yourself to a point where you’re not getting up and freaking out all day long until you go to bed. And what I found that really helped me as I traveled the world for the last year and a half is if you get a good morning routine down Just a couple of things to kind of ground yourself in a little bit of routine, a little bit of predictability kind of starts to set the tone for the rest of the day. And the cool thing is right now, if you’re working from home, you’re not commuting, so you have a little more time to yourself. So why not use that time to calm your brain down, to set your intentions for the day, and actually have a little time to yourself and take care of yourself. Now, if your job isn’t letting you work from home right now, you’ve been laid off or something like that, but you’re still at home. This is a perfect opportunity for you to get a routine together and a perfect reason for it. Because your whole world has been flipped upside down. So what I’m going to do is instead of give you a whole bunch of options, I’m going to just give you a general outline of what a morning routine usually looks like. So when you first wake up, you want to take care of three things, you want to take care of your mental state, your emotional state and your physical state. So you could start off drinking a glass of water, and then doing something mental, or maybe even something physical. It’s all up to you. Now a couple of the mental things that people do is meditation, just take a little bit of time to start focusing on how much grateful for or if you actually have a meditation practice or practice yoga or something like that, you can start doing that. Another mental exercise you can do is setting your intention for the day. Who is it that you want to be today? What things would you like to accomplish? How would you like to react to difficult situations, if you start to plan what you’re going to do in advance, when things happen? In the moment, your brain will already be primed and how it’s going to react. Then after or even before the mental things, one, two physical things. So you want to take care of your physical body by just getting a little movement in. It doesn’t have to be anything too vigorous. You could do stretching or yoga, or a couple bodyweight exercises just to get your heart rate up a little bit. It actually works even better than coffee to wake you up in the morning. And now mind you, this is all right when you wake up, might want to do a more advanced workout, and then take a shower or take a shower beforehand to get your day started. But this is all what you do initially. And it shouldn’t take more than, say 20 minutes at least to start, you know, you might want to add things on later on some journaling and that kind of stuff. But if you’re just starting off, keep it simple. And then as you cement some things into place, then you Start adding things on and grow more habits to benefit. I hope this helps in this tough time. I will talk to you tomorrow.
