In this week's message we're looking at the sixth Beatitude, and asking what it means for us that it is the pure in heart who will be blessed because they will see God.

The teachings of Jesus in the Beatitudes have never been more relevant than they are today. They provide us with a  unique view point... a kingdom view point... that is counter to our culture and a beautiful invitation to all those who would listen.

In a world full of division where people are pitted against each other and cancelled for differing opinions, God's invitation through this Beatitude is to be people of mercy. What makes that possible and who should we show mercy to?

Life is filled with sadness, pain, and sorrow. Even Jesus was known
as the man of sorrows, but how can you live without being overwhelmed?
Do you have peace in your pain or suffering? You can... God is the
comforter.

Have you ever ordered something based on the description, and when it arrived it turned out to be nothing like the item you read about? This week we are starting a new series based on the Beatitudes; a section of a message Jesus delivered to his followers providing them with a picture or a sketch of someone who has been impacted by the transforming power of Jesus. Do we match the description or are we suffering from a mistaken identity?

By definition a Christian is someone who agrees with or relates to
the teachings of Jesus... it doesn’t say that they actually live them out or
put them into practice. The disciples that we read about in the bible... the
ones who followed Jesus closely during his time here on earth... they were
learning to live like Jesus... to love like Jesus... to treat people like Jesus
did. Essentially they apprenticed under him by putting into practice
everything that he taught them and every thing they watched him do. And
its people like that... people who apprentice under Jesus who have an
incredible opportunity to build bridges by following the example of Jesus
and reclaiming hospitality.
