It's Group Therapy Thursday time!
Dear Ted and Amy,
My sister died a few years ago and we try to include her twelve year old son and his dad as much as we can but truthfully it’s not a lot with our busy lives. We decided to pay for them to join us on vacation out of state this year so that we could spend the week with them. We paid for their flight, food, hotel room and all of the activities and had a nice week. But when we got home, we got the credit card bill for the trip and we realized that the dad had upgraded them to first class airline seats without asking us first. If you’ve taken first class, you know how much more of an expense that is! We were a little floored so called him and he said that he’s so tall, that is really the only way that he can fly comfortably and he didn’t think we’d mind. My husband wants to ask him for the reimbursement of the upgrade since we were pretty generous the entire trip. I don’t want to rock the boat as I’m scared that he will get mad and then never let me see my sister’s son. How should we handle this?
