It's Group Therapy Thursday!

 

Dear Ted and Amy,

I have a female friend that comes to town every so often and frequently when we go out, we are joined by another of her female friends who lives here. We’ve all hung out a bunch of times and she seems to enjoy my company. I recently got invited to a party and our mutual friend couldn’t come in for the night, so I sent a message to this other girl on Instagram (I didn’t have her cell number) to see if she wanted to go with me. She did, so we met at the location and I thought we a great time. We talked about meeting up again so that week I sent her another Instagram message and asked for her cell number to coordinate. She didn’t get back to me right away but I didn’t think much about it. Again, I reached out and asked for her number to communicate since it's a pain to always be on Instagram. She just ignored the request and told me (through Instagram) she was looking forward to meeting up again. At this point, I’m thinking that she doesn’t want to give me her cell number and I can’t quite figure out why? She still wants to hang out, but I have to say, I’m taking it personally that she likes when I pay for her drinks and introduce her to fun people at parties, but she doesn’t want to get close enough to share her number? Is that weird? Our mutual friend said she thinks I should just get over it but aren't I right to be irritated or at least confused? I should also mention we're both in our fifties which makes it even more bizarre. Where do you think she's coming from?
