It's Group Therapy Thursday!

 

Dear Ted and Amy,
I'm going through a pretty fresh divorce. This is the first time that we're going through this time of year since we have been separated. I have two kids that are in elementary school and they are very excited about Halloween. They had their costumes picked out at least a month ago and can't wait to go trick or treating. But here's the deal - this Friday falls on my ex's regular weekend to have them. He is planning to take them out trick or treating without me and does not want me tagging along. I know that I can see them in their school parade earlier, and we went to your Boo-tacular last weekend. But it still is breaking my heart that he won't let me come on Friday night with them. I was hoping he'd change his mind, but here we are the week of, and he is still not budging. He says we worked out a plan for custody and we have to stick with it. Should I just give up and accept it'll be me and a bottle of wine by myself at home? Should I stalk them from afar? How should I handle this situation?
