It's Group Therapy Thursday time!

Dear Ted and Amy,
My parents are snowbirds and my wife, two young kids and I are planning to head down to see them during the kids’ winter break. Everyone gets along but my mom can be a lot to deal with, especially for a whole week. Rather than staying at their house, we have decided to rent a nearby hotel room. That way we get our own space, but we are still nearby to visit them while we’re down there. When we told them our plans, my mom got very offended and said “What - is my home not good enough for you?”. How do I convince her that we want our own space while traveling with two kids without the added stress of Grandma there every moment?
