Does God really discipline His children? Yes, He does. One of the clearest examples is in Deuteronomy 1-4, where Moses explains God's purpose for leading Israel through the wilderness. What does this record of discipline teach us about God? What does it teach us about ourselves?

Moses challenged the Israelites to learn from their forefathers' mistakes as they prepared to enter the Promised Land after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. This begs the question for us: Will we also learn from our mistakes? 

Will you praise the Lord? Will you commit to giving Him glory above all else? Do you live for His glory?

Psalm 114 celebrates the mighty acts God did to deliver His people from slavery in Egypt to a life of freedom in the Promised Land. The psalm pictures their exodus from Egypt, the crossing of the Red Sea and the Jordan River, and God’s presence at Sinai. Our Christian faith is strengthened by remembering that God has saved His people and continues to preserve us unto eternity. 

The name of the LORD will be praised endlessly by the catholic people who are called by His name. 

Will you live the blessed life that Psalm 112 describes? 

Do you praise God for His wondrous works of creation, providence, redemption, and provision? If not, why? He deserves all the praise we can give Him.

The last parable in Luke 15 is a story about two sons. One leaves home and returns after a loose life, and the other stays home. Neither of them loves their father; they just want his stuff. But the father's love for both never wavers. He remains committed to providing all they need or want. 

Should I beware of amassing riches? Yes. We store up treasures on earth to satisfy our insecurities and fears. But storing riches in this life is a foolish endeavor. We are to use our resources to bless others, while living open-handedly.

There are lessons in the small things. Do not despise them. Rather, trust the Lord in them. Walk in faith and repentance. Treat people as Jesus treats them, and see them as he does.
