Wassup glorious world!

It's a milestone episode, the Big 2-0, and I couldn't think of a better guest to showcase on this seminal pod than my good friend Mona Morsy. Mona is a marvelous rock of a human being. She radiates calm strength and is a true joy to be around. She is also my Jiu Jitsu instructor, and a former semi-pro Muay Thai cage fighter. Mona has the strength of a bear, not just physically but also mentally and emotionally.

For the first portion of the conversation we discuss martial arts and some of the distinguishing characteristics of different disciplines. After that, I ask Mona to share her story about coming out as gay in a socially conservative home with two fundamentalist religious parents. It is a harrowing, moving, and deeply inspiring tale highlighting the miraculous resiliency of the human spirit. This is a big pod tackling big topics, and I didn't want to have to cram it all into one episode. Thus, this is Part 1 of the Mona Morsy story. Part 2 will be released on the next episode.
