If you're looking for a literary masterpiece this isn't what this story is about but if you are looking for an insight to the tough yet interesting and inspiring journey to manhood of a plucky adventurous young boy, this will sadden and gladden your heart. Amid poverty in the backwoods of Louisiana where his dear mother died when he just a toddler, under the stern yet loving hand of his father and family, Rollis never bemoaned his lot in life but from a very early age displayed a loving heart and concern for others. Now grown into his 60's that love in his heart still keeps right on growing. I loved it!!
Growing Up When Times Were Simple
This book contains the thoughts of a young man who has grown up in the south and at a time when racism was prevalent; though this is not the theme of the book. Growing up in a large family that gives support and love and maintains both its Christian principles and its sense of humor even through the hard times is a delightful change from the norm. It contains a message that is refreshingly innocent, honest, and positive.
