Everyone’s understanding of God’s grace is, to some degree, deficient. Each and every day we live our lives, God is intervening in countless ways with amazing grace. This grace manifests over and over again through, sometimes, complex and difficult peculiarities. Our understanding and experience of this grace can become arrested in what Scripture describes as “juvenile” form. This juvenile misconception of grace is heavy and harmful in innumerable and, often, subtle ways. For these reasons, we frequently need to have our grace development kickstarted, repeatedly, so that we may grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18) and our joy may be fresh (Isaiah 29:19).
