The Jen Richardson Show

Growth vs Fixed Mindset

Listen Later

In today’s episode, I’m diving into the powerful concept of mindset – something I’ve always been passionate about. I firmly believe that our mindset shapes our actions and ultimately, our lives.

Despite my strong belief in mindset, I’m not immune to moments of self-doubt. In those times, I examine my thoughts and feelings, think about the challenges I face and explore how I can overcome them.

For me, mindset is all about control – over my finances, thoughts, processes, and the inevitable overwhelm we all experience. That’s

where Carol Dweck’s theory of growth versus fixed mindset comes into play.

A fixed mindset tends to resist change and sees setbacks as proof of incompetence. On the other hand, a growth mindset views failure as an opportunity to learn.

Having a fixed mindset can hinder your progress in various aspects of life – whether it's pursuing hobbies, growing your business, or enhancing your personal life.

But mindset is not set in stone; it can evolve over time.

And if you find yourself leaning towards a fixed mindset, it’s not a life sentence. You can cultivate a growth mindset with practice and

persistence.

So I ask you these questions: do you identify more with a fixed or growth mindset? And if you lean towards a fixed mindset, are you open to shifting towards a growth mindset?

Remember, success rarely happens overnight, and everyone starts from scratch. Don’t let your mindset hold you back from living the life you desire.

Thanks for tuning into today’s episode. I really enjoyed discussing the power of mindset with you, and hope I’ve inspired you along the way.

See you next week on Dollars and Dreams!
