On this episode, I sit down with Amal Flores, owner/operator of Hermanito, to talk about the restaurant’s new location at the corner of Broadway and Lincoln Blvd. in Santa Monica, CA, in the former Swingers Diner space. We get into how this new location came together, what it means to step into such an iconic spot, and how the team has worked to pay homage to the history of the space while creating something fresh for the neighborhood. It’s a great conversation about vision, respect for local history, and what it takes to bring new life to a well-known Santa Monica location. We also get to try some of the Hermanito branded Mezcal!

For V’s birthday we checked out a new-to-us spot: Father’s Office. A visit that almost didn’t happen—but I’m so glad it did. Delicious food, great cocktails, and a casual-cool atmosphere. If you’re looking for excellent eats, a solid bar, a few “house rules,” and a strong dislike of ketchup… this is your place.
