Hello Guardians!

 

This week on GuardianCast we talk about some really HUGE news. Activision and Bungie officially announced their split and the transition of Destiny as an IP to Bungie as an independent developer/publisher. The implications of this news for the future of the franchise are unprecedented. It's safe to say we are all feeling elated and cautiously optimistic about the future. We discuss the relationship of Bungie & Activision from the beginning, the potential monetization models for the future of the game, what launcher will Destiny be on in the future, Destiny 3 potentially being delayed and the release cadence of future content, NetEase's $100 million investment, and the implications of the smaller studios working on Destiny including Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios.

 

We give our impressions of the debacle that ensued over Niobe Labs. We talk about Bungie's vision and execution of community puzzles as well as the communities reaction and how Bungie chose to handle it. Finally, we talked about the 2 new exotics including Izanagi's Burden and Jotunn and gave our impressions/opinions of their utility and design intentions.
