Marly is originally from Venezuela. She has a background in Forestry and Wood Sciences.

She holds a bachelor's degree in Forestry with a focus on Forest Management, a Masters's degree in Sustainable Bioproducts, and a Ph.D. in Forest Resources. 

Before moving to the United States, Marly traveled to Ecuador and Chile where she worked on seasonal environmental projects.
