He properly plays a provisional ball under Rule 18.3b and it comes to rest in the right rough, short of where the original ball is estimated to be.Before commencing a search for the original ball, he makes a stroke at the provisional ball towards the green. Stuart searches for three minutes and cannot find his original ball. He walks towards the green and realises the ball he hit was not his. Stuart returns to search for his provisional ball but cannot find it within three minutes. He returns to the teeing area and takes 6 more strokes to hole out.
