Nayan Raj Pandey (Novelist, Short Story Writer, Screenwriter) is famous for his representation of contemporary Nepalese society in his novels, presented in a figurative style. He writes stories and novels, as well as screenplays for Nepali cinemas. In 1987, he published two novels “Nango Manchheko Diary” (The Diary of a Naked Man) and “Bikramaditya Euta Suun Katha”. In 1997, he published another novel “Atirikta”. “Ular” (2000), “Luu” (2011), “Ghamkiri” (2013), and “Sallipir” are his popular novels. Nidayen Jagadamba, Khor Vitra ko Joker, and Chocolate are his collections of a short story which have been appreciated by the readers. His book “Yaar” won the Padmashree Sahitya Puraskar. He has also been awarded by various literary institutions in Nepal for his literary works and for his contribution to Nepali literature and movie industry. Some of the awards that he received are; Best Drama Writing Prize 1988 by Nepal Pragya Pratisthan, National Talent Award in 1996 (2053 BS), Lokendra Literary Award in 2001, Motion Picture Award for Best Screenplay in 2001, Garima Prize in 2005 which was awarded by Sajha Prakashan, National Prize for Best Screenplay for the film “Maina Nepali”, and The Diamond Shamsher Memorial Literary Award in 2011.
